Three Cups of Tea Assembly Celebrates Culmination of School-wide Literacy Event

On Thursday, February 11, the entire school gathered to celebrate the RGS literacy event centered around Greg Mortenson's Three Cups of Tea.  The Pequenos through Third Grade read a picture book version of the story titled Listen to the Wind, while the upper cluster read a young adult version of Mortenson's journey and accomplishments.  The assembly showcased each class's project, including poems, reading projects, letters, art projects, songs, and many other impressive studies of Afghanistan and Pakistan.  The assembly ended with a delicious potluck presented by the Fifth and Sixth Grade classes.  Each student made a food or drink from the region to share with students, faculty, staff, and parents.  Enjoy the pictures below if you were unable to join us last week.

Gala Grande Preview Continues Tomorrow
RGS Gala

Come on in and see our Auction Preview tomorrow, 2/17 if you missed the preview this morning in the main foyer.  We will have the class projects on display as well as information boards on all of the live auction lots.  There will also be a select group of silent auction items on display, including some great teacher/student experiences.  Gala Co-Chair Krista Tyra will be available both days to answer questions AND we will be accepting absentee bids from those who are unable to attend.

Remember that all proceeds of the Gala Grande go to support RGS's tuition assistance program, which supports one in five RGS families. This year, RGS is giving more tuition assistance than ever before, which means we need your strong support now more than ever!

Pepper Rocker
Wait until you see the "Pepper Rocker" designed and built by our sixth graders--WOW!

Re-Enrollment Contracts Due

If you have not already submitted your child's re-enrollment contract for 2010-11 to Mr. Virgin, please do so as soon as you can. If you are not sure or if you have decided you will not be submitting a contract, please contact Jay. We have many prospective families who are awaiting word about admission to most of our grade levels, but we want to be sure that our current students are re-enrolled first!
